“Wait, is that what I think it is? Let me see it,” he ordered.

I stood up and approached him with the book held out. Sharik grabbed it and began to skim through the pages. A big smile appeared across his face and gave a look at Remnant, who was looking back at him. While he did that I walked backwards and kneeled back down.

Sharik then spoke, “This is great. I’ll hang on to this, and we’ll research it.”

“That sounds great, my Lord,” I nodded.

“Excellent. Anyways, You two leave first thing tomorrow. You’re both dismissed,” Sharik ordered.

We responded with a nod, “Yes sir.”

We then turned and exited the room. The next day, we started our venture to the Roc Domain by taking a transport bus. While boarding the bus, I had this funny feeling that I couldn’t shake. Once we got situated, I leaned over to Revolver.

  “I’m getting a strange vibe,” I whispered.

Revolver nodded in agreement. The fact that he didn’t say anything meant he must have had the same feeling, which was that we were being followed. That meant that we needed to act casual, like we didn’t know there was someone following us.

We found ourselves in the Roc Domain after a day’s travel. We were dropped off at Cliff City, the capital city of Roc Domain, which was where we needed to be. Half the city was built on top of a mountainous cliff and the other half was built at the bottom of the cliff. This was all in the jungle and there were a lot of large trees along with the buildings of the city. We found a hotel and used it as our base, like usual. We were still cautious of anyone following us but didn’t see anyone. It was getting late, so we got ready and went to bed. I couldn’t fall asleep. There were multiple things bothering me.

I spoke softly, “Hey, Revolver, you still awake?”

There was a moment a silence before Revolver replied with a tired tone, “Yeah, what is it?”

“It’s about your relationship with your family. I don’t see why you can just trust them,” I questioned.

“Well, if your family was still around, you would know why I would have issue with my family. Families are a pain,” Revolver answered.

I thought for a moment, “But they aren’t around. I don’t even remember them.”

“Exactly, now just drop this and go to sleep,” Revolver ordered.

I heard Revolver roll onto his side to face away from me. I decided to just drop it, and I focused on falling asleep. The next day arrived. We were in jackets with our hoods up. The first half of the day was spent working as we walked around the city looking for Senator Blyth.

“It’s noon, and I’m hungry. Let’s stop for some quick food, like fast food or something,” I suggested.

Revolver nodded, “Yeah, agreed. But where?”

“Well, I think I saw a burger joint back that way,” I pointed out.

Revolver agreed, “Alright, burgers it is.”

We turned and walked down around the corner of the street. We saw the restaurant and walked in. We sat at a bar that was up against the window. We sat there and ate our food. While eating, I looked up out of the window and saw a familiar looking man walking past the restaurant. I pulled out the data pad and recognized his face as the senator.

“Found him!” I exclaimed quietly to Revolver.

“Excellent. Let’s move,” Revolver responded back, whispering as well.

  “Right,” I replied.

I took one last bite of my burger and we left our trash and leftovers on the table. We made our way out of the restaurant and tailed the senator. We kept our distance, observing his moves and where he was going. This continued for a while, but the feeling of being followed came back.

“Revolver, do you feel that,” I asked him, whispering.

I started to sense an element power tailing us, but it was hard to pinpoint.

“Yeah, I feel it too. Seems like they’re trying to mask themselves. Whoever it is must be really skilled elemental user,” Revolver whispered back.

I nodded, “Agreed. The average elemental user wouldn’t be able to sense them.”

We kept going and acted like we didn’t notice. Senator Blyth then stopped near the edge of the road and hailed for a taxi. We halted too and looked away to not bring attention to ourselves. One then quickly pulled up. Blyth then entered and drove off.

Revolver got mad and exclaimed, “Damn it.”

“Shouldn’t we just get in a taxi too?” I questioned.

Revolver sighed, “No, because we don’t even know where he’s going. Having a taxi follow another taxi would just draw attention to us. It’s time for plan B.”

I thought for a moment, “Scan the city for potential points of where he could go to?”

“Exactly. I hate it though because it makes the mission longer,” Revolver groaned.

“We don’t have much of a choice though,” I said after not thinking of any better options.

“Yeah, its whatever. Let’s use the cliff to our advantage,” Revolver suggested.

Revolver took his hood off and hailed a taxi. I took mine off too. We both entered the back seat of the one that pulled up. There was sign saying the taxi driver’s name was Johan.

“Can you take us to the top of the cliff?” I asked him.

Johan turned to us with a melancholy look, “You got it.”

Revolver and I then quietly relaxed. It was about a twenty-minute drive through the city streets and up to the edge of the cliff. There wasn’t too much traffic, which was good. We all kept to ourselves and didn’t speak. The taxi finally parked, and Johan turned to us.

“That’ll be forty-five Nero,” he told us, pointing at his Nero meter.

Revolver pulled out his Nero and gave him the cash. We exited the taxi and began to look out to city. You could see that half the city was buildings and streets and the other half was jungle. I spotted something out in the distance and pointed it out with my outstretched index finger.

“Hey, is that the Senator Building? Wouldn’t that be where he is at?” I questioned.

Revolver studied the building before answering.

“Yeah I guess…” Revolver replied before snapping his attention behind us.

“What is it?” I asked him before looking in the same direction.

I got my answer. There was a person standing there facing us. They had a grey cloak on that covered their whole body and most of their face. It was kind of creepy. I started to sense their aura, which was familiar.

“Wait that aura. Were you the one who has been following us?” I questioned sternly.

The person didn’t answer. We cautiously got into fighting stances. We had left our swords at home unfortunately.

Revolver was agitated and raised his voice, “Answer us! Have you been following us? What do you want?”

The person was quiet for a moment before speaking in a female voice, “To make sure the future is intact.”

We got confused and looked at each. Suddenly, she appeared in front of me as I turned to see her. I saw her hand open creating a ball of water aura in his hand.

“Water Blast,” she said in a mellow tone.

I was confused, as I was hit by the point-blank blast. The blast hit me so hard that I blacked out. I opened my eyes, and I was standing in a white room. There was a long meeting table in the middle of the room. I recognized this place as somewhere in the Heaven Realm. I had come here to save Sabre in the past. I looked around and saw a group of people standing around me. I started recognizing them as Tana, Vlaykre, Ryuu, and the rest of the gang.

Vlaykre spoke, “So, you have time powers?”

I smirked, “Yes. There is a lot to explain, and I’m more than happy to do so. Right now, though, we need to focus on saving Sabre. Tana is going to be the one to do so.”

The Creator responded, “Well, you came at a good time. We need you to help with traveling to the past.”

I replied, “Yes, I already know. I’ve been watching you guys from my hologram computer of the
timeline.”

Tana questioned, “Wait, you’ve been watching us?”

“Yes, but again, I’ll explain that as well later,” I answered.

I closed my eyes and thought of the point in time when Sabre was fighting then got stabbed. I put my hand up and a light purple portal opened nearby.

“Go ahead, Tana. You are going to the past, so make sure you don’t talk to anyone or let anyone see you. If you do, it’ll ruin the whole timeline,” I warned her.

Tana nodded her head and looked over at Hana who looked back with a smile and nodded. Tana then looked back at the portal. She walked over to it, then stepped through it, slowly. She then disappeared into the purple aura.

“Will she be okay, Master Time?” Ryuu asked.

I looked back at everyone and they had a worried and concerned look on their faces.

I reassured them by saying, “Yeah, she will. You can trust me, guys. She’s tougher than she knows.”

Minutes had past and everyone was quiet. Kaido then broke the silence.

“It’s been about five minutes. How long does this take?” Kaido questioned.

I was still holding the portal open. I saw that Kaido looked worried.

“She’ll be fi...eerrrrraaa,” I tried to reassure more.

Suddenly, I fell over in pain from my head and blacked out again. I opened my eyes slowly. I felt pain all over my head as well as a headache. I slowly picked myself up and fought to regain my vision. I thought back to the vision or memory I just had.

‘Do I really know those people? I can’t seem to actually remember them,’ I thought to myself.

As soon as I was on my feet, my vision wasn’t blurry. I clearly saw the person who knocked me out holding a sword to Revolvers neck. Revolver was on the ground, and the girl were standing over him.

She spoke, “Yield. I am not hear to kill you.”

Revolver gritted his teeth and internally fought to comply. He looked at me and I gave a look that he knew it was going to be alright. Revolver stood down after.

  “Okay, I yield,” Revolver replied.

She backed up but didn’t lower her sword. I helped Revolver up, and we turned our attention to her.

“What is it that you’re after? Also, who are you?” I ask her.

She replied, “Well, as I said, I’m here on a mission to make sure the future doesn’t get ruined like it already has. You can call me the ‘Water Maiden’.”

“How did it get ruined?” Revolver questioned.

“You shouldn’t know too much about your future,” I told Revolver.

The girl nodded her head in agreement, “Spex is right. The future is fine, so long as you make the right decisions. Look, I’ve come to warn you. I’m sorry for attacking you, but I was told it was only way to get you two to listen and to trigger something. The current paths you two are taking are bad ones. I can’t stop you, but I do recommend that you re-think your decision to be a part of the assassins. Also, be cautious of the man with no face,”

  “No face?” I questioned, curiously.

“We aren’t doing anything bad. We are helping people,” Revolver refuted.

She gave a chuckle, “Is that what your leader has been telling you? Lies.” Revolver started to get annoyed.

I questioned, “What do you mean trigger- “

Suddenly, I started to see flashes of visions. Without thinking, I grabbed Revolver’s arm. The world around us then transformed. It was dark and desolate. Revolver and I looked around in confusion to the new surroundings. The ground was just dirt and rocks, but it was all black. The sky was all covered in black clouds. I looked straight ahead and saw two people. One was standing and the other was sitting in what looked like a throne chair. The person standing next to the throne was Lord Sharik. The person in the throne was someone in full black armor. He looked familiar, like I’d seen him multiple times before.

I let go of Revolver’s arm, and the world changed back to normal with us back near the cliff. We looked back at the ‘Water Maiden’ with confused looks.

“So, you saw the potential future, huh?” she said.

“How did you know?” I asked her.

She chuckled a little then answered, “I was told that would happen.”

“By who?” I continued to question.

She shook her head, “Don’t worry about it. I need to get going. But first, Spex, I know you know what the assassins are doing is wrong, and you need to follow through with that and show Revolver. You also need to survive and be the leader I know you can be.”

I didn’t say anything. I just stared in confusion trying to process what she was saying.

“Believe me, Spex. Oh, and Revolver, I’m truly sorry. I wish I could tell you who I am, but this is the best I can do,” she continued.

She ran over and gave Revolver and gave him a hug. Revolver was confused and started to turn red out of embarrassment. I was surprised as well. He put his hand on her back. She let go and walked backwards.

“I’m glad I was able to see you one more time. Goodbye,” she said to us.

She then blasted the ground with her water powers, launching herself into the air. There was something different about the aura that came off of the blasts. It seemed more powerful then was used on his us. She disappeared behind the nearby buildings. I started to process more of what she said and started to agree with her. I just needed to show Revolver. I looked over to him to see him with his arms crossed. He didn’t look very happy.

“Did you notice that power she just used? That wasn’t normal water aura,” Revolver pointed out.

“I did notice. It seemed way more powerful. What does that mean though?” I questioned him.

Revolver shook his head and answered, “I have a theory, but I can’t be sure.”

“Well let’s hope we meet her again so we can ask her,” I responded.

  Chapter 11 – The Choice

Two days later, we found ourselves in Central City again. Our target, Senator Blyth, had left the Roc Domain to do some work in the Central Union. We were staying at the same hotel that he was staying at. I thought that was weird because we normally stay in a different area from wherever our target is staying or living at. We were getting ready to leave when I stopped Revolver.

“Hey, why did we stay here? Shouldn’t we be in a different hotel from Blyth?” I questioned.

Revolver was in a bad mood ever since the ‘Water Maiden’ appeared.

He sighed and answered, “’Man, your memory is bad. We are here to take out Blyth faster. The longer it takes to get that done the worse it’ll look on us.”

He shook his head and went back to finishing up with getting ready for day. I turned on the TV and turned to the news.

The reporter spoke, “We are only a few weeks away from knowing who the first Sovereign will be. According to current polls, candidate Cyris has gone up in the polls and is now tied with Amaya. He made a great impression in his last rally that was held.”

Revolver then spoke, “That is why we need to take this guy out. He’s good friends with Cyris, and I’m sure Blyth is doing everything he can to get people to vote for Cyris over the other candidates.”

I crossed my arms. I didn’t know if I wanted Amaya to win, but I did know that we shouldn’t be killing others to make someone win.

  “What’s wrong?” Revolver asked me.

  I shook my head, “Nothing.”

“Alright then. Leave the swords here. Daggers and knifes only. We are going to have to kill him out in the open,” he said, dropping the subject.

We left the room and tracked down where Blyth was. He wasn’t in his room, so we went through the daily path that he had been following. While walking down the street on the sidewalk, the senator was found walking in the same direction just ahead of us. Revolver started to walk faster to catch up, and I followed. I started to think about what the ‘Water Maiden’ said. I needed to try to stop Revolver from killing the senator. This might be the day where the worl
d starts to go bad, as mentioned by the ‘Water Maiden’.

“Revolver, can we talk?” I asked him.

Revolver kept walking faster trying to catch up to Blyth. He didn’t answer me. We were starting to get close to Blyth. I waited for a little bit then questioned again.

“Revolver, did you hear me? I think we really need to talk,” I asked.

Revolver finally answered, “Not right now, later though.”

I shook my head, “This can’t wait until later. It would be too late.”
