  Prologue

A long time has passed since Tana, along with her friends and family, banded together to take down The Rebellion and Dark Vanquisher. Along to help was Sabre who was brought back to help in defeating Dark Vanquisher. The Rebellion was recreated a couple of years later as The Resurrect and tried to make one last stand to control the Nations. Tana, along with the new addition to the team, Spex, stopped them for good. Sabre had sacrificed himself to take down the evil Master Nether, who once again was scheming in the shadows of The Resurrect.

For the following forty-eight years, things were peaceful. The allied leaders however have been having a tough time with coming up with new laws and decisions needed to make the continent Adus better for all the people of the six nations in it. They have decided to create a new seat in their allied government, called the Sovereign, who will be someone who will have final say in the decision making. Something recently was starting to stir behind the scenes around the same time. Vlaykre had foreseen a potential threat looming and started to make moves of his own.

Vlaykre is seen appearing out of his purple aura and in front of an abandoned building. The building was a facility in a bad part of Central City. It was dark and rainy. He looks and sees a middle-aged man approach him. The man looked worried as he approached and was looking around.

“Dr. Wolfeman, you’re on time,” Vlaykre pointed out.

Dr. Wolfeman replied in a flustered tone, “Yes of course. Is this the place, Vlaykre?”

“Of course, doctor, just like we agreed. I provide for you, and you continue your work for me,” Vlaykre said with a nod and a smile.

Wolfeman examined the building then skittishly entered through the nearby door. Vlaykre followed him inside. Wolfeman continued to examine the building. He walked down the metal stairs that led down to the large empty room.

“It’s old and slightly musty, but it’ll do perfectly,” Wolfeman spoke.

Vlaykre replied, “That’s good. This used to be a candy factory, but they moved into a bigger facility. How soon can you move your equipment, doctor?”

Wolfeman turned to Vlaykre and answered, “Right away. I need to move it before the government gets suspicious.”

“They still don’t like you’re work, huh?” Vlaykre asked.

“No of course not. They find it inhumane. But with my research we could potentially find out more about ourselves than we already know. There was a man that was interested in this as well and wanted to see the progress after I start,” Wolfeman explained.

Vlaykre shuffled past him with his arms crossed and responded, “That’s all good, I trust that you can be successful with your research, just like your grandfather, who was a great scientist as well. I’m only interested in one thing though, doctor.”

Wolfeman turned his body to face Vlaykre.

“What might that be I wonder?” Wolfeman questioned.

Vlaykre then turned to him and smirked, “To prepare for the worst.”

  “Interesting,” Wolfeman intriguingly responded.

Vlaykre then walked past him again and made his way back up the stairs for the door. “I’ll return when I can to check up on you.”

Wolfeman raised his finger in the air, “Oh, before I forget, if you want me to do exactly what you want, I’ll need one more thing from you.”

Vlaykre stopped half-way up the stairs and turned to him.

“What else do you need?” he questioned Wolfeman.

  Chapter 1 – A Dark Mission

A well-dressed, middle-aged man was walking down one of the streets in Lightning City and I was tailing him. The street was part of a neighborhood of apartments and boarding houses. It was about four o’clock in the afternoon. To look inconspicuous, I wore a trench coat and a cap. I was wanting to get this mission over with, since we had spent the last few days looming around this guy, learning his every-day routine. This guy was a senator, one of the representatives for the Thunderlands. His name was Ranulf.

“Is he coming up yet?” a voice said in my ear.

It came from my communicator. It was my partner.

  I replied softly, “Not yet.”

As I said that, the senator stopped and saw donut shop across the street.

“Wait he’s stopping. This is new,” I said.

He runs across the street, jaywalking, and enters the donut shop.

“What is happening?” I heard my partner say.

I gave a sigh and replied, “Ranulf just went into Archer’s Donut Shop.”

“He passes that shop all the time and never bats an eye at it. Now, suddenly, he wants a donut?” my partner questioned.

I sat on a nearby stoop and waited until he came out.

“Hey, when it comes time, don’t hesitate, okay?” my partner told me.

I nodded my head and replied, “Hey; Shut up.”

“Is the shield almost ready?” My partner asked.

We had a third member get added on mid-mission, as we took longer than usual to complete our mission.

“Just about set. Could we hurry this up?” our third member asked.

“Just be patient, okay?” I replied.

After roughly ten minutes, the senator finally emerged from the donut shop and jay-walked across the street. Almost getting hit. I shook my head then continued following him.

I followed him while he turned the corner down another street. This street was empty around this time of day. I waited until he got close to the destination mark of where we wanted him to be. I then quickly sprinted my way past him and pushed him hard into the nearby alley as I ran by him. I quickly took out a controller and pressed the only button on it. It created a force field that would keep him in and on the outside looked like the alley was empty.

I kept running and turned the
next corner. I then turned again into another alley that connected to the last alley. As I turned the corner, I saw the senator trying to punch the shield.

  “Help, please!” He was yelling.

Suddenly, someone had jump down from the fire exit of one of the buildings and was facing the Senator in a crouching position. It was my partner who was wearing his black and dark blue assassin robes. He decided to customize it with a piece of cloth that draped off his left shoulder down his back. I took off the trench coat I was wearing, revealing my black and dark purple assassin’s robes as well. The senator turned towards us, examining us with a look of fear on his face. After he stood up, he was shorter than me, coming up to about my shoulder.

My partner then spoke, “Senator Ranulf, I wouldn’t bother crying for help.”

“No one can hear or see you on the other side of that shield,” I told him.

The senator then looked mad, “That’s a lie! I’ve seen this before. This is Keystone Industry technology!”

“No, it’s true,” I replied, “We modified it for our own purposes.”

I looked around and didn’t see our third member.

My partner then added, “You know why we are here, right?”

The senator froze for a moment. He then turned to us and studied us. He looked down to the ground and shook his head. He stood up then looked at us with a serious face.

“Yeah, I know, why you’re here. I’m not going to let you have your way. I won’t change my mind. I fight for what I believe in,” Ranulf said, seriously.

“Yeah, that right there is the problem. Water Dagger,” My partner responded.

He created a dagger made of flowing water from his hand. His eyes started to glow blue. The Senator opened his hand facing up and a flame was then created from it. His eyes were glowing red. I grabbed the handle of my sword and put my thumb on the thumb scanner on the guard. It unlocked, and I unsheathed my short sword. My partner dashed towards the Senator. Ranulf quickly blocked his attack with both hands which were covered in flames.

I ran up behind them and readied to slash as my partner jumped over me. I slashed at Ranulf, only for him to block my attack with one hand. With the other, he blasted me back with a Fire Blast that I managed to mostly block with my sword.

I looked and saw that I was knocked back pretty far. Something wasn’t right about the fire power he was using.

Ranulf then motioned his hands and yelled, “Lava Burst!”

Lava had exploded up from the ground and shot my partner into the air. My partner quickly created a water bubble shield to protect himself.

“He has Master Fire’s Orb!” My partner yelled to me.

I was told about these orbs. I quickly ran towards Ranulf. He saw me coming and was readying another attack. He shot another Fire Blast, as I slid under the attack on my knees and cut both his legs. The blast dissipated from his hand. He yelled in pain as he fell hard to ground onto his side. Gripping his legs. I pointed my sword towards him.

“Do it!” I heard my partner yell to me.

He was hanging from the fire escape. I hesitated, as I always do.

“Fine, I’ll do it,” he said.

I looked up as he launched into the air. He then created another water dagger and preformed a downwards strike to Ranulf. The senator was motionless. I sighed and sheathed my sword. I stood up along with my partner. He had a look of disapproval.

“Why did you hesitate, Eclipse?” He asked me.

I shook my head and looked down, ashamed, and answered, “I don’t know, Nite.”

His lips twisted, and he shook his head.

“You’re so unsure of yourself. You’ve always been like that. Ever since I met you,” Nite said to me.

I continued to look down, “I know.”

He put his hand on my shoulder. I looked back up at him.

“Come on. Let’s get going and report in. We need to find Motor as well,” Nite ordered, after sighing.

I nodded in agreement, “Yeah, let’s get going.”

“Daddy?” We heard a voice say.

We turned to see a young girl standing opposite of where the senator’s body was. She looked horrified.

A voice yelled from the roof above us, “Guys up here!”

It was our third member, Motor. Nite and I quickly left the scene by jumping up the fire escape and up to the roof where Motor was waiting for us. Motor and Nite started to run to other side of the roof, but I stopped and turned to look down, as the girl ran to the Ranulf’s side. I couldn’t imagine what she must be going through now. Or, maybe I did.

“I’m sorry, kid,” I said, softly.

She touched Ranulf’s body and her body began to glow. She screamed in pain and collapsed. I was about to go down and check on her. I was halted after taking one step forward by Nite.

“Eclipse, we need to move!” Nite ordered.

I turned and nodded. We then we continued to run. As we were running, Nite’s comment of being me being unsure of myself since we met started to make me think back to when I first met him.

It was a six years ago. I was roaming around Central City, Central Union. It was a rainy day. I didn’t know who I was and had no memory past just a week prior. I had woken up at the edge of the forest just outside of the city. I didn’t have any money and I had to do what I could to survive. A group of homeless kids and I had stolen some food from one part of town a few days prior, so I ran to another part of the town to lay low. It was the bad part of the city. A lot of scum hangs out here - real bad people and gangs.

I made my way into an alley. I wanted to get to a burger restaurant that I knew was nearby and this alley would be a good short cut. I was hoping I could beg for something, even if it was leftover French fries. My body started to feel weak, and I was starting to have a tough time walking. I started to look around for a good spot to rest. As I got halfway down the alley, a group of thugs came lurking out, almost like out of the shadows. I began to get cautious.

‘Great, just what I need,’ I thought to myself.

They all were wearing baggy clothes. The one closest to me was wearing a beanie and had headphones around his neck, music blaring out of it. He was about my height and we were both taller than the rest of the gang. I figured he was the leader.

He spoke, “I see you tryin’ to pass through our alley.”

I crossed my arms, “Yeah, I’m just trying to get to the restaurant nearby for food.”

“That’s cool. There is a toll to go through here. 50 Nero. ‘Cough it up,” The leader demanded.

He put his hand out. I looked at it, then looked at the gang, who looked serious. I shook my head.

“I don’t have any money. You can’t force people to give you money passing through an area you don’t own,” I responded, angerly.

I began to walk past him, but he stopped me by putting his hand on my chest and pushed me back. I fell backwards and onto the ground. I was too weak to catch my balance. They all got closer and began to get ready to fight. The leader knelt next to me and smirked.

“That’s not how it works. We do own this alley, because I said so. Now you either pay up or you walk the other way,” he told me.

I thought walking away was the better option but something inside me wanted to stand up to them. I slowly picked myself back up. The leader stood up as well and gave me a serious look. I gave him the same look back.

I then said, “I’m passing through this alley for free.”

He looked back at his gang. They all smiled after he smiled.

He turned back to me and responded, “Okay, then.”

He quickly punched me in the face hard and I fell back down instantly. Just as they were about to close in and start beating on me, a black figure appeared. The figure jumped over me, and tackled a few of the gang members, as well as their leader. I looked up at the figure and saw it was someone in black and dark blue robes. From the build of the person’s body, I guessed it was a man. They quickly shot back up to fight
and the person defending me stretched their arms out towards them.

  “Water Blast!” the person yelled.

Water shot out of their hands, taking out five gang members. Three more gang members came running towards him readying their weapons, consisting of metal pipes and chains. He threw his hands out again and a big blast of water shot out from them again. The gang members were all knocked out afterwards. I looked around in shock. I had never seen anything like it.

“Who are you?” I asked him.

He turned to me and I saw that he had his hood up over his head and that blocked out half his face. He walked up to me and stuck his hand out. I stared at it for a moment and realized he was helping me. I grabbed his hand and he helped me stand up.
