  “Yeah,” I answered.

I stood up, put my hands up, and exclaimed, “Stop!”

Time stopped, and I could feel that I couldn’t keep this up for long. I had to work quickly. I raced over and started to pull everyone over, one by one, so they were laying behind Sabre. It took a few minutes, and I felt myself slipping. I quickly ran over to Nether and cut the back of his legs. I then ran back over to Sabre as time continued normal.

  “Sabre, now!” I told him.

Nether yelled in pain and fell to his knees. Sabre then powered up and put both hands out to the side.

“You’re using that?” I heard Vlaykre say.

He had started to pick himself him up. Sabre nodded. Two large balls of water energy formed in his hands. He then combined them in front of himself.

  “Grand Water Blast!” Sabre exclaimed.

A Giant Water Blast that was twice the size of a normal Water Blast shot from his hands. The explosive noise was loud and caused the ground to rumble. Just before it hit, I could have sworn I saw Nether smirk. Maybe it was just me though. It lasted for about ten seconds, which was longer the usual. After Sabre stopped, I studied the damage. Everything that was in the way of the grand water blast was destroyed. There was no sign of Master Nether.

  “What was that?” I asked.

Sabre turned to me, “It’s my signature attack, the Grand Water Blast. I try not to use it because of how powerful of an attack it is. Especially now that I’ve trained to make it better. I could potentially kill someone. It was necessary in this situation however.”

“That was impressive, Sabre. That was a bigger blast then last time I saw you use that attack,” Vlaykre complimented.

Regan, Tana, Vlayru, and Kaido we all still unconscious.

  Sabre responded, “Thanks, man.”

There was rubble that suddenly started to move around. From under it appeared Master Nether. He looked like he only got minor damage. We all had a surprised look on our face. Fear had crept up inside me. Sabre instead had an annoyed look.

“But how did he survive that?” I questioned.

My heart sank. He did have a hard time standing up, which meant that the attack did hit him.

Nether chuckled, “Thanks to this power up from the NULL, I was able to withstand that attack Sabre. Mostly anyway. Now to get serious.”

He then appeared in front of Sabre and slashed at his chest. It happened in the blink of an eye. Sabre wasn’t fast enough to block it and flew back into the forest. I put my hands up to use my powers at same time Vlaykre took out his swords. Before I could start to use my Slow technique, Nether appeared in front of me and grabbed me by the arms hard, interrupting me.

“You’re the time brat that I’ve heard about. Sorry, kid, but can’t have you use your powers.” Nether said to me with an evil smile.

He then crushed my arms, breaking my bones. I screamed in pain. He let go, and I fell to the ground.

  “Spex!” Vlaykre yelled.

I was face down on the ground and was in so much pain. I couldn’t feel my hands.

Vlaykre began to speak to low angry voice, “I’ve had enough of you. You’ve been nothing but a pain since we were kids. Even when we would kill you, you just come back like a cockroach. I’m sick of it. You’re going to pay for hurting my son like that.”

I slowly fought to look up as I saw Vlaykre about to use his gravity powers, his body radiating his purple aura. I could feel his power raging hard.

“Gravity!” he exclaimed putting his arms up towards Nether.

Aura surrounded Master Nether as he was pulled to the ground. He struggled to get up, just as Vlaykre struggled to keep him still. After about a minute of struggling, Vlaykre let go and took up his swords. He then proceeded to charge towards Master Nether. Vlaykre swung his swords, but they were knocked out of his hands by Nether who swung his sword hard. Nether then followed up with stabbing Vlaykre in the stomach.

Nether then leaned in with a smile, “Oh, Vlaykre, that little speech reminded me of all the times of us hanging out as kids in the Dark Empire. You were weak then, just like you are weak now.”

Nether pulled his sword out of Vlaykre who then fell to the ground. I was numb with pain and anger, yet I couldn’t do anything. We were defeated. I put my face in the ground for a few moments. Suddenly, I felt something powerful nearby. I lifted my head to see Sabre standing about where he was before. He looked angry.

Nether chuckled, “Are you back for more punishment, Sabre? I’ll be glad to give it to you. You still owe me.”

“No, I’m here to stop this once and for all. First things first,” Sabre responded.

He walked over to Tana who was now conscience. She tried to push herself up.

“Katana, no. Don’t get up. I’ll take care of this. I might not make it though. I need to give you

something, and you need to protect it with your life,” Sabre told her.

Tana was confused, “What is it?”

Sabre replied, “Hold out your hand.”

Tana complied, and Sabre grabbed her hand. A bright blue aura appeared around their hands, and it looked like it transferred from Sabre’s hand to Tana’s. the aura felt powerful.

Tana then looked surprised, “No way.”

“Promise me that you will keep her safe and pass her along to your choice of successor? She’ll cause destruction if she is in the wrong hands,” Sabre asked of her.

Tana looked at Sabre and nodded. Sabre then stood up and smiled.

“I’ve passed on everything to you. You are my legacy. I’m so proud of you,” He told Tana.

Sabre then walked back to face Nether. Tana put her hand up to try and stop him from going but she was too weak.

“The reason I’m here is because I too am tired of you and your friends getting in my way all time. All I wanted to do is rid world of everything. This world doesn’t deserve to live. This time I’m doing it myself!” Nether explained.

“Spoken like a true shadow being,” Sabre responded.

Nether started to surround himself with two different types of dark aura. He made a gesture in front of his body and the two auras combined and transformed him into a form that looked like a Nether form. The difference was that this form was made up of the two different auras that swirled around. It was also much more powerful. That wasn’t good at all. Sabre was surprised. Not as surprised as I thought he would be though.

“This was my goal. To ascend even further beyond Nether Form!” Master Nether exclaimed.

  His voice echoed intensely.

“Hmmm. Interesting,” Sabre said with a curious tone.

He started to power up and a blue water aura started to surround his body. Then another blue aura started appearing from all over and surrounded Sabre as well. He then made the same gesture as Nether and transformed into a Water form that was just like Nether’s new form. I couldn’t comprehend the level of power I was feeling from both of them.

“Oh, ho. I see you obtained Fusion Form as well,” Nether said in an echoing, evil voice.

“Yeah, this is only my second time going into the form,” Sabre replied.

Nether responded, “Well then. Let’s see how you handle it.”

They both disappeared, and all I felt was their attacks clashing in different spots, like explosions were going off in random areas without the explosions. They were moving so fast that I couldn’t follow them. After about two minutes, a small crater appeared in the ground and the ground shook hard. I had to brace myself. I examined the crater and saw Sabre face up on the ground and really hurt. He was back to his normal state and felt weak, his gear tattered and torn. Nether appeared floating about the crater, looking down at Sabre.

He gave a laugh, “This time I’ve beaten you for good, Sabre! You are going to die along with your friends and family.”

I started to see some of the Dark Energy float down to Sabre. Sabre examined it as it floated around his hand. He then struggled to stand up. He looked up,
and I turned my attention to see Tana fight to investigate the crater.

‘Tana,’ I thought, worrying about her.

Sabre spoke, “Katana, I think I know how to beat him.”

Katana looked confused and worried, “What do you mean, Father?”

Sabre smiled, “Tell your mother I said I love her. I love you as well.”

  “Father?” Tana responded.

Sabre then absorbed the dark aura and formed it into balls of aura in his hands. He put it on his face and the darkness consumed his body. He started to get extremely strong again. He now looked like he was in his Shadow Dweller form, but he had on what looked like a tight black suit over his entire body with an attached jester hat on his head and a crown. Chains formed around his forearms and a black sword appeared in his hand. It was a straight, thin blade with a hook at the end.

  Master Nether seemed scared.

“W-what are you?” Nether questioned, in a worried surprised tone.

  Sabre replied, “Oblivion.”

Sabre’s voice sounded inhuman and almost monster-like. He then appeared in front of Nether. Nether’s sword broke into pieces and hit the ground off to the side in pieces and he was shaking violently. It was too fast to tell what happened, but it looked like Sabre lunged and attacked while Nether tried to block it. Sabre was then behind Nether and impaled him with his sword. A ring of glowing aura symbols appeared, and Nether was absorbed into Sabre. Vlaykre looked up at Sabre who looked back at him. A black portal appeared below him, and he disappeared into it.

  “No. Not again,” Vlaykre said.

I felt really hurt. Both physically and mentally. I put my face on the ground and closed my eyes. I opened my eyes and felt back to normal. I was back in the alley from before. I stood up and again couldn’t recall what I just saw. I walked out of the alley and back on the street. I felt sweaty, so I took my hood off. I then heard a loud explosion and rumble. pedestrians nearby stopped and looked where it came from. I turned to and saw that It came from outside of the city. I decided to go see what it was. I started to see smoke rise from another part of the city.

“Not again,” I muttered to myself.

I started to run in the direction where I heard the explosion come from.

  Chapter 18 – The Snake

Sometime later, I arrived at the scene and saw Revolver fighting Crynux and Shadow Raven by himself. Revolver glanced in my direction then turned back to block an oncoming attack from Crynux. Revolver was then forced off the attack to launch himself backwards to regroup with me.

“I was wondering where you ran off to,” he spoke.

I unsheathed my sword and responded, “So much for keeping our heads down.”

  “Right?” Revolver replied.

I got into a ready stance as we watched Crynux and Raven approach us.

“What do you want now? Haven’t you already caused enough damage to this city?” I questioned bluntly.

“I’m just here because of the deal we made. As long as he follows through on his end,” Raven said.

Crynux responded, annoyed, “Yes, Yes, I’ll find a way to make you human again.”

  I started to get curious.

“Why do you want to be human?” Revolver asked.

“Becoming a shadow being was great and all, but it’s become too much in the long run when you are constantly killed and recreated. Being mortal was better,” he explained.

“You still didn’t answer my question. Why are you here?” I asked again.

“Bring me, Vlaykre. I will spare your lives and everyone else’s if you do that,” Crynux offered.

We looked at each out then back at Crynux.

  “Never,” I answer.

Revolver counter offered while pointing, “How about we beat you into the ground instead?”

They both smirked, and Raven chuckled.

  “Bring it,” Raven told us.

Revolver looked agitated and launched towards them, and I followed. He took on Crynux, and I took Raven. Raven got into a Fencing stance and waited for my attack. I was on the offensive, but Raven was able to dodge and block my attacks. He then switched to offensive, and I couldn’t keep up with his movements. He grabbed me by the shoulder, and I felt him try to pull me over his shoulder. I was quick to counter by landing on my feet and slashing back at him. He tried to dodge, but I was able to scratch him with just the tip of my sword. He then did a spin attack and hitting me in the face and shot me back into a wall.

“Just in case you didn’t know, I’m a master fencer. Even Sabre had issues fighting me, especially after I got the shadow boost of power from turning into a shadow being,” Raven told me.

‘He is really good. I’m using both my hands, and he is just using just one. It was kind of ridiculous,’ I thought.

I got up and decided to use my time powers.

  “Slow!” I exclaimed.

As his body slowed down, he tried to reach for something in his back pouch. His hand was in the pocket before he took out what it was, he was reaching for.

“Well that was easy,” I said out aloud, walking to Raven.

I kept one hand out towards him. Looking up I saw Revolver in the air fighting Crynux. I decided to try to restrain Raven and wait for Revolver. I looked around for anything I could use. Out of nowhere, I got shocked for a few seconds, which made me dropped to the ground in pain. I felt my hood cover my head. After groveling in pain for a minute, I looked up to see Crynux standing up looking down on me.

“How did you do that?” I questioned, gritting my teeth.

Crynux smirked, “I put that shocking device on your shoulder when I grabbed you earlier. Just in case I needed a way out of a tight spot that you would put me in. ‘Can never be too careful.”

I looked over to see a device that was on the ground next to me. It was fried and smoking. I concluded it was a one-time use kind of device.

“That was cheap,” I told him.

  “Effective though,” he responded.

I fought to look back up at Revolver who was falling towards us. I looked closer, and it looked like Crynux was continuously punching him. He then gave one big punch, and Revolver hit the ground hard. Revolver then coughed up blood and groveled in pain. Crynux floated down and landed nearby. Raven approached him.

“Shall we end these two then?” Raven asked.

Crynux put his hand up towards Raven, replied “Hold off on that.”

He then walked towards us and crouched down near us, “Now will you two bring us Vlaykre?”

I looked at Revolver who was still in pain, blood dripping from his mouth. I thought for a moment before answering. I didn’t want to see Revolver hurt, but I also didn’t want to give up an ally. Fighting back seemed to be the best option. I fought to stand up and was breathing heavy.

Shaking my head, I replied, “Never.”

Raven sighed, “I guess, it’s the hard way then.”

Crynux stood up and prepared an attack, the hand that was outstretched towards me was glowing black aura.

He sighed, “Fine, then. The hard way.”

My whole body was sore, and I could tell it was going to slow me down, but I had to try. Suddenly, something was happening behind me. I turned to see a purple portal that was opened and out stepped Vlaykre.

“Crynux, wait. I’m here, just like you want. You can let them go,” he told them.

“I figured you would come out of hiding if these two were in trouble. Since they’ve been nothing but pests, I’m going to kill them anyways,” Crynux said.

“What good would that do? You got what you want now, which is me. Killing them would be a wasted effort,” Vlaykre pointed out.

The portal behind him closed. Crynux contemplated for a moment.

  “Fine,” he said, grunting.

Crynux and Raven approach Vlaykre. Crynux opened a black hole nearby and motioned for Vlaykre to follow.

  Raven then spoke, “This way.”

They started to escort Vlaykre towards
it. I put my hand up and tried to take a step, but I fell to my knees in pain.

“Vlaykre, no,” I said through my teeth.

He looked at me and nodded, with a smile, “I’m proud of you.”

Something inside me was touched. His compliment meant a lot and I didn’t know why.

  “Vaykre!” I heard someone yell.

I turned my head around and saw the middle-aged woman from earlier. She looked worried. Vlaykre ran over to her and embraced her. Raven and Crynux walked over to them with a look of displeasure.
